My name is Casey and I'm married to my best friend Jeff.
My story starts on the early morning of March 12, 2009. I went to the hospital
planning on giving birth to my son Justin. Instead I left with empty arms and a
broken heart. I had a tight stomach the night before which never loosened.
This caused me to be alarmed. I wasn't feeling any movement. The doctor
told me to come in and have a non stress test done. The doctors tried to find
his heartbeat but were unsuccessful. I went into labor on my own by 6:30 am.
For hours I labored knowing that my baby boy was going to come out and not
be alive. I was scared of what he would look like. I was scared of the pain. I
was in shock. I actually started to believe that maybe, just maybe he would
start to cry when he came out.
My son Justin Zachary was born an angel at 9:29 pm weighing 8lbs 13 oz and
22 inches long. He was a healthy beautiful boy. After I delivered him the
doctors found a "true" knot in his cord. We will never be fully sure if the knot
is what cause our son to pass away, but it is all we have to hold on to.
Jeff and I miss our little boy deeply. We visit him at the cemetery and we tell
him good night everyday. I wish I could have saved my baby. I will do all in
my power to make his life worth meaning.
